Frequently Asked Question
recreate thumbnails
What happens to the WordPress thumbnails when replacing?
When replacing an image, neo Replace automatically creates new WordPress thumbnails. That regenerates the appropriate image sizes for themes, WooCommerce, galleries and page builders.
If the new image has a different resolution than the old one, the number or size of generated thumbnails may change. neo Replace assigns the new preview images to the existing image sizes as sensibly as possible so your site can continue to serve appropriate image versions.

Metadata stays preserved
Are alt text, description and caption preserved when replacing?Yes. When replacing a file, neo Replace retains important media information such as alt text, description and caption. This is especially useful if you only want to replace an image technically or stylistically while keeping the existing SEO texts.
Optionally, when replacing you can specify whether the filename, title and slug from the newly uploaded image should also be adopted. This lets you decide flexibly whether only the image file is updated or whether the media name should also be adjusted to the new file.
